Movement
Being on a horse can help riders work on balance, posture and strength.
Riding for the Disabled • Maghera
The Fort Centre is a friendly place where disabled children and adults can ride, learn new skills and enjoy time with our horses and volunteers.
Welcome to the Fort
Every rider is different. We help each person take part at a pace that feels right for them.
For some riders, it is about building confidence. For others, it may be improving balance, learning a new skill or simply enjoying time with a horse.
Most importantly, we want every visit to feel positive, welcoming and enjoyable.

What riding can offer
Riders, families, volunteers and horses work together to make every session enjoyable.
Being on a horse can help riders work on balance, posture and strength.
Trying something new and seeing progress can give riders a real sense of pride.
The Fort is a welcoming place to spend time with horses, volunteers and other families.
Every new skill matters, whether it is a first ride or an RDA grade.
Powered by volunteers
Our volunteers help with riding sessions, care for the horses, organise fundraising and keep the centre running.
Community support
From tractor runs and sponsored challenges to local collections, our supporters find all sorts of ways to help. The money raised goes towards caring for the horses and looking after the centre.
Every hour given and every pound raised helps us welcome more riders.
Support the Fort Centre
Your donation can help with feed, bedding, vet and farrier bills, riding equipment and the everyday cost of running the centre.
